Point Lonsdale’s newest residential community will have a new shared path connecting it to key destinations after funding from the State Government.
Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville today announced $50,000 to build a 200-metre path linking the new residential community in Point Lonsdale’s west with the Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff town centres, Point Lonsdale Primary School and the Springs Beach area.
The path, which will be constructed by the Borough of Queenscliffe, will also improve access to public transport by connecting the new development with the bus stop on Point Lonsdale Road.
The new shared path will help promote cycling and walking in the area, relieving pressure on parking, particularly during holiday periods when the area’s population can swell from 3000 to 16,000.
The path is being funded through the State Government’s Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program, which provides funding for local transport initiatives, services and infrastructure in regional Victoria.
