Local families will get the world-class local school their kids deserve, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to upgrade Newcomb Secondary College
A re-elected Labor Government will provide $6 million to Newcomb Secondary College.
The funding will upgrade the school’s maths, music and technology wings. This will complete the modernisation of the schools original footprint, making sure it’s facilities are first class for students now and those into the future.
Newcomb Secondary College is a great school with currently 431 students and around 25 % of those coming from Leopold. This figure will continue to grow as the future number of secondary aged students in Leopold continue to grow.
Importantly the school currently has capacity for more than 1370 students , capacity that can meet the needs of the future for Leopold .
While the previous Liberal Government put no funding into local schools , this Government has funded significant upgrades right across Geelong and the Bellarine, including in this area alone, Leopold and Moolap primaries, Geelong High and now Newcomb Secondary College.
The Labor Government has invested more than $3.8 billion to build 70 new schools and upgrade 1,300 schools across the state since coming to office in 2014.
That means thousands of Victorian kids now go to school every day and learn in new classrooms with better technology and facilities, like new gyms and science labs.
It’s also helped create 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians right around our state.
