Portarlington Primary School students now have the modern classrooms and buildings they need for a first-rate education, thanks to a $5.7 million upgrade delivered by the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville today visited the school to formally open the upgrades, which includes a refurbished heritage building.
The new school has state-of-the art classrooms and an art and crafts centre, all housed in a building inspired by the school’s seaside location, including a boardwalk main entrance modelled on the local pier.
The Labor Government has invested an unprecedented $3.8 billion in school infrastructure over the past four Budgets, to ensure it can continue to cater for the estimated 90,000 students who are expected to enter the school system over the next five years.
This investment has seen a numerous Bellarine schools upgraded or funded including Ocean Grove, Drysdale, Wallington, Leopold, Surfside and Moolap Primary Schools and Bellarine Secondary College.
This statewide school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
