Million Dollar State Funding Boost for St Ignatius College

Students of Saint Ignatius Secondary College in Drysdale will soon be learning from first class facilities thanks to a funding partnership between the State Government and the school.

Duty Member for Bellarine Gayle Tierney MP today announced that the State Government is contributing $1 million towards the school’s $17.6 million planned redevelopment.

The school’s old administration buildings will be demolished, making way for a state of the art Teaching and Learning Centre, consisting of 16 learning areas combined with a 400 seat lecture theatre.

The planned works are in addition to earlier State Government funding of $2 million for the school’s Multi Purpose Hall that was opened in late 2019, as well as a further $2 Million contribution to the schools gym in 2018.

Both rounds of funding are part of the State’s Non Government Schools Capital Program that sees independent schools across Victoria benefit from the $402 million building upgrade program.

More than one third of Victorian students attend Catholic or independent schools.

Quotes attributable to Duty MP Gayle Tierney, on behalf of Lisa Neville, Member for Bellarine

I congratulate the entire school community, led by Principal Michael Exton, on their untiring work and commitment in continually upgrading this great school.

Local Member Lisa Neville has worked with St Ignatius over many years to ensure the school can provide first class facilities for all its students, as she has done with schools right across the peninsula.
