Revitalisation Begins at Ocean Grove Nature Reserve

Plans for the future of Ocean Grove Nature Reserve have been finalised with work on upgrades to access, parking and visitor information starting this month.

The State Government has invested $245,000 to deliver these upgrades, which will protect the unique environment and scenic landscapes of this much-loved reserve as pressures from increased visitation and neighbours to the park.

The upgrade works include:

  • A new all-abilities drop off, parking and picnic area at the entrance of the reserve
  • A link from the new picnic area to the existing track network
  • Designated bus drop off areas for public, school and Bush Kinder use
  • New information and welcome signage

The designs were shaped by extensive consultation with the local community, Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Aboriginal Corporation and Friends of the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve. The layout has been chosen to minimise impact on the environment and its cultural values.

Parks Victoria will work closely with the Friends of the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve and Bellarine Landcare Nursery to relocate a range of plants and trees at the entrance of the reserve, to further reduce the impact on Wadawurrung Country.

The Bellarine Peninsula is a declared Distinctive Area and Landscape, which ensures the areas environmentally and culturally significant characteristics, like the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve are protected for future generations to enjoy.
