Neville Backs Bellarine DAL

Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville today expressed her strong support for the Bellarine Distinctive Areas and Landscapes declaration (DAL), stating that it will be delivered in full and in the first half of 2022.

Ms Neville was responding to community concerns that the DAL implementation had been delayed.

“While I do understand there are concerns with the delay due to the coronavirus, I can assure local communities that the Government will be delivering these important reforms for the Bellarine, nothing has changed”, Ms Neville said.

“Having now represented the Bellarine Peninsula for just on two decades, I know that people are passionate about their towns, their rural lifestyle and importantly the local environment.”

“I also know that their Community Associations are just as passionate and are tireless in protecting the peninsula and all it has to offer.”

“I applaud them for their work, and I share their views.”

“It is why I worked hard within Government over a number of years to ensure at the 2018 State election we committed to declaring the Bellarine a DAL.”

“Now in 2021, I can again assure all interested parties, including local community associations and developers alike, as a priority I am committed to delivering on that election commitment.”

“Because in doing so I know that the Bellarine Peninsula, its historic towns, its agricultural land and importantly its natural environment will all be well and truly  protected for generations to come”,  Ms Neville concluded.
