Businesses in Ocean Grove have thought outside the box to keep their community moving during COVID-19.
The Ocean Grove Business Association has used a State Government $10,000 Business Chambers and Traders Groups grant to better deliver their services to local businesses and support their local community.
Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville today congratulated the Association on the launch of their new gift card program which encourages Ocean Grove residents to support local businesses that have struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Businesses such as the Driftwood Café, Ocean Grove Cellars, OG Bar and the Piping Hot Chicken Shop have signed up to the program.
As well as undertaking an upgrade to the association’s website to better support their members, the Association launched the closed loop gift card system as a long-term, sustainable way to support Ocean Grove businesses, even beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Business Chambers and Traders Groups Grant program provided grants of $10,000, $20,000 or $50,000 to business chambers and trader groups across Victoria to support their local business community’s recovery.
The Grants for Business Chambers and Trader Groups program was part of the $1.1 billion Business Resilience Package announced by the Victorian Government on 13 September 2020.
The package provided direct economic support provided by the Victorian Government to businesses and workers to help them weather the storm of the pandemic.

I know local traders have felt the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but ideas like the gift cards highlight the initiative and resilience of Bellarine businesses.
