Stumping Up for Cricket in St Leonards

Tomorrow’s local cricket stars will soon be enjoying better facilities at St Leonards Lake Reserve with the announcement of more than $1.4 million in funding through the 2020-21 Community Cricket Program – Cricket Facilities stream.

Duty MP Gayle Tierney on behalf of Lisa Neville Member for the Bellarine, today announced $100,000 funding to upgrade facilities at St Leonards Lake Reserve.

The ground is the home of St Leonards Cricket Club and the funding will enable City of Greater Geelong to install irrigation and remediate the oval.

After a disrupted sports season over summer due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Victorian Government is getting on with helping grassroots sport get back on track through initiatives like the Community Cricket Program.

By supporting clubs like St Leonards Cricket Club modernise their facilities, we’re giving grassroots communities the opportunity to cater for even more Victorians keen to do their communities proud.

These initiatives are part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to sport and active recreation, gender equality and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

The Community Cricket Program has invested more than $2.8 million into 30 cricket infrastructure projects across Victoria.

This initiative is part of the Victorian Government’s investment of over $1.05 billion into community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
