Creating Jobs & Tackling Waste On The Bellarine

New jobs will be created on the Bellarine Peninsula thanks to Victorian Government support for a Portarlington-based fencing company’s expansion through the purchase of new equipment to recycle PVC waste.

Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville said the Victorian Government’s $110,000 investment would help Think Fencing to invest in the specialist equipment needed to process PVC waste and recycle it for use in manufacturing.

The new equipment will initially be used to process and recycle PVC waste to produce a high-quality composite decking system, creating nine new jobs.

The project, expected start early next year, would be the beginning of of a critical step-change for Think Fencing and the ongoing management of PVC waste in the Barwon region.

It is anticipated that up to 50 tonnes of PVC materials, such as loyalty cards used by businesses, will be processed each month at Think Fencing’s Portarlington facility – supplied by local and regional waste companies.

Think Fencing has been manufacturing fencing products in Portarlington for more than 20 years and has expanded into other areas over time, with a focus on eco-friendly solutions.

Support for the $330,000 project is being delivered through the Regional Jobs Fund, which considers applications year-round to enable businesses to create or keep jobs in regional Victoria.

The Regional Jobs Fund is a key component of the Victorian Government’s flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, being delivered across the state as part of the record $2.6 billion Delivering for Regional and Rural Victoria Program unveiled in the Victorian Budget 2019/20.

The investment is delivering quality education, health, transport and record jobs.
