Geelong Jobs Plan

Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews has unveiled Victorian Labor’s Geelong jobs plan.

Victoria’s largest regional city Geelong is the headquarters of a highly skilled workforce, one that is prepared for changes in our economy and ready to adapt.

Mr Andrews today unveiled ‘Plan for Jobs and Growth: A Focus on Geelong’‘ together with Member for Geelong, Ian Trezise, Member for Lara, John Eren, Member for Bellarine, Lisa Neville and Western Region Member, Gayle Tierney.

For generations, Geelong had served as Victoria’s engine room, powering jobs, growth and innovation across the whole state.

In May 2013 Ford Australia announced its closure, a devastating day for so many workers who dedicated their professional lives to putting Australian cars on Australian roads at both Ford Geelong and Broadmeadows factories.

In light of an economic downturn and significant regional job losses, Geelong’s attention has turned to a solution – to a plan that can support the regions traditional sectors and create new jobs in new industries.

A Focus on Geelong sets out Victorian Labor’s plan for Geelong and its future.
