Today the 2nd stage of the Queenscliffe sport and recreation facility was finished and opened thanks to funding of $3.35m from the State Government.

The previous State Labor Government funded stage 1 in 2007 and now with the completion of stage 2, a Labor Government   has finished what it started.

Stage 2 includes new lights for the football oval, new netball courts and game day facility, a gymnasium and cricket nets.   These upgrades ensure a modern sporting precinct to cater for football, cricket and netball,

The State Government fully funded stage 1 and now this stage with a small contribution from the Borough of Queenscliffe.

The funding package is part of the Andrews Government’s strong commitment to sports and active recreation, enabling and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

Across Victoria we’ve invested more than $420 million in community sport and recreation facilities, and earlier this year provided almost half a billion dollars in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 to support sport and active recreation at all levels.

Quotes attributable to Member for Bellarine, the Hon Lisa Neville MP

“I have been proud to secure all the government funding to rebuild facilities for football, cricket and netball.”

“The netballers were playing on below  par courts and operating out of a very poor excuse for a game day facility.  “

“I congratulate the entire club led by President Damian Waight and his predecessors, including life time club stalwart Bill Comerford and his wife Peggy”

“These new facilities will provide the Couta Netball club with the facilities they deserve and that will ensure they can continue to grow in coming years,”
