The Andrews Labor Government has unveiled four route options for the future extension of the Geelong Ring Road, known as the Bellarine Link.
Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville today announced the opening of community consultation to shape planning for Bellarine Link and the upgrade of Barwon Heads Road.
The Labor Government has invested $4 million to investigate a future Bellarine Link extending the Geelong Ring Road from Baanip Boulevard to the Bellarine Peninsula, and $3 million to plan for the upgrade of Barwon Heads Road between Settlement Road and Lower Duneed Road.
Both projects aim to improve safety, reduce congestion, improve travel times on the Geelong road network and accommodate future urban growth in the area.
From today, the community will be able to see four route options for Bellarine Link for the first time, following initial investigations and early feedback.
Initial technical studies looked at environmental impacts, cultural and indigenous heritage, current and future transport demands, land use, hydrology and geology implications, as well as how both projects might contribute to the regional economy.
All planning will be completed in 2018.
