New tenure arrangements on a much-loved coastal reserve have given the Barwon Heads Football and Netball Club a new lease on life.

Member for Bellarine and Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Lisa Neville congratulated the club on working with the Victorian Government to achieve the new 21-year lease and 21-year licence.

In further good news Barwon Heads, Minister Neville also said the Andrews Labor Government election promise to provide $225,000 for the club was also being delivered.

The funding has been allocated and is now available for the Club, which is in discussions with the Government about potential upgrades to its facilities.

The Club is a focal point for the Barwon Heads community providing social and recreational activities for local residents and visitors to the area.

The new lease and licence provide for greater access (10 months per year excluding December and January) to the Multi-Purpose Facility. Previously the Club only had access for seven months of the year (March to September).

The new tenure arrangements provide long term security for the Club and the increased capacity for pre-season training and matches, social events and fundraising activities while making sure the needs of the campers at Barwon Heads Park are met.

The parties are also working together to progress future master planning for the site and are finalising tenders this week.

Barwon Coast Committee has allocated $50,000 for a Master Plan of its public land reserve at Barwon Heads to identify capacity of the site for events use.
