Queenscliff Football, Netball and Cricket Clubs and their growing ranks can look forward to a brighter future thanks to new lighting at the Queenscliff Sports and Recreation Precinct.

Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville joined the mighty Queenscliff Coutas before training today to officially announce the completion of the new brighter lights on the main oval.

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with delivering its key election promise to complete Stage Two of the Monahan Centre.

New lighting is the first major milestone in this project that will give people of all ages and abilities in Queenscliff the modern and inclusive facilities they deserve.

Also included in Stage Two of this project will be the future delivery of a new community gym, new netball courts, improved cricket training facilities and extra car parking.

We’re also revamping a local playground and nearby camping areas for families and visitors to the Bellarine Peninsula.

The new and improved lights mean local Aussie rules and cricket teams have the flexibility they need to train and play more often and safely, later into the evening.

Lighting on the oval is now AFL standard, opening the door to more games under lights and other club and community events at the precinct at night.

The Andrews Labor Government invested $3.15 million to complete this important project through our $110 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The former Victorian Labor Government provided $500,000 towards Stage One of the Monahan Centre for new club rooms and social facilities.
