Lisa Neville, the Member for Bellarine,  joined by Shadow Minister for Police, Wade Noonan, at the Bellarine SES in Drysdale.

Ms Neville said, “I am delighted to be able to announce that, if elected in November, an Andrews Labor Government will provide $100k to expand the Bellarine SES facilities at Grubb Road.

“The funding will build a new shed to house rescue vehicles, trailers and emergency services equipment.

“It will also enhance safety at the station, with pedestrian walkways clearly separated from the emergency vehicle entrance and exit areas.

“Response times will be improved with each emergency vehicle having space to enable faster vehicle turnout.

“The expansion will also include a dedicated training room for the 55 SES volunteers.

“I’m very pleased to say that this will also help Ambulance Victoria and our great paramedics who share the training facility.

“The new shed will enable the Unit to operate more effectively, housing an additional 4WD and vehicles and appliances, including: heavy rescue truck, a light rescue truck, two four wheel drives, a rescue boat, a storm trailer, an open trailer, ATV on a vehicle trailer and the Region’s spare rescue boat.

“The Bellarine SES do a fantastic job and are highly regarded by the community.

“We rely on the dedication and courage of the members and volunteers to assist in a wide range of disasters and emergencies.

“They frequently put themselves at risk to rescue people from storms, floods and often traumatic traffic accidents.

“Labor is committed to supporting them in the great contribution they make to our community.
