LABOR COMMITS TO LEOPOLD HUB

Lisa Neville, the Member for Bellarine, today announced that, if elected on 29 November, an Andrews Labor Government will commit $3 million for the next stage of the Leopold Hub.

Ms Neville said, “I am delighted to announce that an Andrews Labor Government will provide $3 million for Stage 2 of the Leopold Hub.

“This is a very exciting project that has enormous community support.

“Stage 2 will include a library, community meeting rooms, a multi-purpose space that can be used by young people or seniors, and a sound-proof room designed for bands or individual musicians to use.

“The library will be a highlight of the development.  It will be a great asset for the community, including for the primary school, with the children being able to walk across from the school to visit.

“There will also be a small café and garden area for people visiting the library to enjoy.  It will also be accessible for parents dropping off their children at the day care centre, or people using the facilities at the Hub.

Cr Rod Macdonald from the City of Greater Geelong said, “Council is committed to this project that will provide facilities to accommodate activities that will engage Leopold residents of all ages.

“We welcome the Member for Bellarine’s ongoing support for the Leopold Hub and Labor’s funding commitment to Stage 2.

Ms Neville said, “At the 2010 election I was proud to make a commitment, on behalf of Labor, to the Leopold Hub.

“If I am re-elected and we have a new Andrews Labor Government we will build Stage 2 of the Leopold Hub which will be an asset that will benefit the whole community.”
