The community is invited to share their thoughts on ways to improve safety on Portarlington-Queenscliff Road at a drop-in session next week.

VicRoads is holding the session at the Piknik Café (Queenscliff Road) on Wednesday, 13 June from 4-7pm and everyone is encouraged to come along, ask questions, share their ideas and provide feedback.

Currently, about 2500 vehicles travel along Portarlington-Queenscliff Road each day. The road is also a popular route for the cycling community in the region.

Eleven crashes have occurred in the last five years on a 15 kilometre section of the road, between Pigdon Street and Yarra Creek Lane.

Six of these resulted in serious injuries. There was also a fatality at the intersection of Swan Bay Road.
