Building the Education State continues at Barwon Heads Primary School with the $3.4 million contract to upgrade the facilities awarded to Colbrico Pty Ltd.

Member for Bellarine, Lisa Neville, today joined the school’s teachers and students to make the announcement.

The construction entails building new general purpose classrooms and removal of relocatable buildings.

Incorporating the latest design features, the new state-of-the-art facilities are expected to be complete by December 2016.

Solid, safe and efficient infrastructure is the foundation of our education system, supporting teachers, principals, parents and carers, and students to learn in the best environments possible.

The 2015-16 Victorian Budget invests almost $4 billion in Victoria’s education and skills system – representing the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria’s history.

The Budget provides $325 million to renovate, refurbish or rebuild 67 schools across Victoria, as well as upgrade relocatable classrooms to create safer, modern and more comfortable learning environments for students and teachers.

It also includes $180 million for programs that will help families cover the extra costs of education, like camps, excursions and uniforms, so no child misses out.
