BIGGER, BETTER SPORTING FACILITIES FOR PORTARLINGTON

Families in Leopold will be able to rely on great local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $50,000 towards a masterplan for Portarlington Recreation Reserve.

Right now, despite record levels of participation across our region, our community’s local sporting facilities and recreation spaces are failing to keep up.

That’s why a re-elected Labor Government will provide $50,000 towards developing a refreshed masterplan for the Portarlington Recreation Reserve.

Today’s announcement represents good news for the Portarlington Demons Football Netball Club, the Portarlington Cricket Club and the Portarlington Tennis Club, and local residents.

With these upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great sporting facilities they deserve.

The commitment builds on the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in local sport, including over $8 million for the Drysdale Sports Precinct upgrade and the recent $200,000 for new lighting at Collendina Sports Ground as part of Pick My Project.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really needs.

The Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
